We are gearing up for the 20th Annual Empty Bowl Fundraiser, a dinner and auction event that benefits the Council of Community Services, and we are thrilled to extend our warmest invitation for you to join us at this event.
This years’ event will be held on Friday, April 19th, 2024, at the Cam-Plex Energy Hall. The theme is “Throwback to ‘04” and the goal is the same: raise money to support low-income individuals and families in Campbell County.
The Empty Bowl has been a cherished tradition in Campbell County for the last two decades, and its success is inextricably linked to the incredible support we receive from our community. What started as a small but mighty dinner at the Soup Kitchen in 2004, has grown into the impactful event that it has become today.
At the event last year, we raised an incredible $185,000 to go toward our housing, hunger, and community assistance programs. Thousands of families use our services every year, and the funds raised at the Empty Bowl are critical to the success of these programs. With the need for the community growing even more, this year we are hoping to raise over $200,000.
Campbell County has higher rates of poverty in children and seniors than Wyoming statewide. Over 14% of children under 18 and seniors are living in poverty here, and according to the 2022 Community Needs Assessment, the projected child food insecurity rate was 17% in 2021. On average, a person living on the streets costs taxpayers $40,000 a year – at CCS, we can provide them a safe space to stay for just $25 a night per person.
In the 55 years of caring for our local community, the Council of Community Services has probably touched the life of someone you know. We are beyond fortunate to have such a giving community support missions like ours and who are looking out for families in Gillette.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to be a part of our community’s commitment to taking care of those who need it most and making a lasting impact. Your generosity truly makes a difference.
